Alma Mae Ford

October 10, 1936 — April 11, 2026

Antwerp

Alma Mae Ford, 89, of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, Ohio.

Alma was born in Livonia, Michigan on October 10, 1936, a daughter of the late Leona (Allor) and Stephen LaGrant.

She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mom enjoyed her large family and holidays along with the preparations leading up to them. One memorable Thanksgiving while everyone was at her home in Fowlerville and all packed into the kitchen and dining rooms, mom is heard yelling, “oh, no, I dumped the gravy down the zink”, laughter all around; so no gravy that year, but we all enjoyed each other’s company. Alma was known to say "I will beat the devil out of you" while disciplining her children. When John was learning to play the guitar, Mom said "why don’t you go play on the hill". This helped John improve until she asked him to come in the house and play for her. Cindy will always remember her kind, patient talks with her mom.

Alma will be sadly missed by her children, John Ford, Jr., Cynthia (Don) Lahnert, Edward (Alice) Ford and Allen Ford; brother, Stephen LaGrant and her grandchildren, Billie Jo (Mike) Schrock , Adam Parisian, Daniel Parisian, Robert (Darci) Gullet, David (Liz) Gullet, Charity Williams, Alicia (James) Ford-Singer, Alma Ford, Edward Ford II (Jessica), Ashley (Dustin) Ford-Hagler and Cody (Amanda) Ford. Alma also had many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ford, Sr.; daughter, Geraldine Ford and siblings, Edward (Sylvia) La Grant, Shirley (Harry) La Grant-Walker, Emily La Grant and Leona (Bill) La Grant-Jordan and grandson, Ben Williams.

A joint celebration of life for Alma and her daughter Geraldine will be Sunday, April 19th at Noon at 1000 Cambry Cr. Grass Lake, Michigan 49240.

Alma will be laid to rest in Sanford Cemetery, Howell, Michigan.
