Arvil Sizemore

Arvil Sizemore, age 85, went to his new heavenly home in the early morning hours of May 31, 2025 under the care of Everheart Hospice, surrounded by family and friends.

Arvil retired from B.F. Goodrich in 2000, moved to Mississippi and returned 5 years ago to live in Van Wert, Ohio.

Arvil was born March 8, 1940 in the foothills of Arjay, Kentucky to Jack and Fannie (Rice)

Sizemore. Arvil was preceded in death by his brothers, James Sizemore, Arnold Sizemore, Grant Sizemore, Charles Sizemore, a sister Elsie Hoskins, brother in laws Dewayne Wright, Bob Johnson, and a grandson Richard (Richie) Zartman.

Left to cherish the memories of Arvil are his wife of 38 years, Joan (Copsey) Sizemore, a brother, Elmer (wife Glenna) Sizemore of Kentucky, sisters, Geraldine Wright of Kentucky, Thelma (Ken) Maggard of Georgia, and Gail Johnson of Texas.

Arvil was a loving father to Marcella (Tom) Allard, Cathy Sizemore, Sheila (Vickie) Sizemore all of Indiana, Rob (Kathy) Zartman of Paulding and Patty (Rich) Miller of Van Wert. Arvil had 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that adored and loved him dearly.

Arvil loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, working in the yard and growing his garden each year. He truly epitomized a servant mentality to everyone who came in contact with him and enjoyed his hearty laugh and warm smile.

Viewing is Wednesday, June 4th, 4 to 7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio.

Arvil's funeral service is Thursday, June 5th, 10:30 AM, with viewing from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Payne Church of the Nazarene, 509 Orchard Street, Payne.

He will be laid to rest in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to EverHeart Hospice.
