Doris J. Springer, 92, of Antwerp, passed away October 6, 2025 at CHP Inpatient Hospice, Defiance.
Doris was born in Georgetown, Indiana on December 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Dorothy (Woodcox) & Raymond Gruber.
Doris dedicated many years to serving others, working in the cafeteria at Antwerp Schools and later in food service at Dallas Lamb Nursing Home. However, her most treasured role was at home, where she poured her heart into raising her family and helping care for her grandchildren. A talented pianist and organist, Doris began playing for the Antwerp Presbyterian Church as a teenager and later shared her love of music by teaching piano lessons. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading and, to the surprise of many, was an avid fan of MMA fighting. More than anything, Doris will be remembered for the love she gave her family and the warmth she brought to those around her.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jeanine (the late Jeff) Alpaugh, Deb Goeltzenleuchter, & Melanie Bair; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, & many great great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Springer; sister, Leola Schulz; sons, Keith & Michael Springer; & granddaughter Amber Davis.
Service is Thursday, October 9th at 10:30 AM with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.
She will be laid to rest in Maumee Cemetery.
Memorials are to the First United Presbyterian Church of Antwerp.
