Dorothy M. James

Dorothy Mary Louise James, 72, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

"Dottie" was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 23, 1954, a daughter of the late Thelma Marie (Burns) and Lloyd Hayden Gill.

She was a valued employee at General Motors for many years. Her passion in life was her family and a good murder mystery. If you came to her home, she made you eat if you were hungry or not! Dottie was the kind of person to sit at your bedside at the hospital everyday a friend or family member needed care.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, April (Paul) Fruit, siblings, Delores (the late Ed) McCreery and William (Karen) Gill; grandsons, Chris Henry and Gage Speaks, her dog, Angel and cat, Darcy.

Dottie was also preceded in death by her son, Justin James and siblings, John Gill, Howard Gill, Robert Gill and sister, Anna "Darlene" Botteron.

Viewing is 1 PM on Friday, June 5th at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp.

Dottie's funeral service is 2 PM on Friday, June 5th at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.

Memorials are to the Paulding County Sheriff's Department, 500 E Perry Street, Paulding, Ohio 45879 to support the dog kennel.
