Earl Peters

Earl S. Peters, 88, of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

Earl was born in Edgerton, Ohio on December 11, 1935, a son of the late Nylo (Zuber) and Willard Peters.

He worked at International Harvester as a traffic controller but his heart belonged to his family and racing horses. He drove his first race in 1962 in which his father also participated. He went on to race at fairs in northwest Ohio that led into racing at commercial tracks such as Raceway Park, Northfield Park, Scioto Downs, Northville Downs, Hoosier Park, Balmoral Park and Fairmont Park. 

Earl will be sadly missed by his wife Marilyn (Witt); children, Steve (the late Lana) Peters, Stephanie (Jim) Long and Shelley (Mark) Heller; brothers, Lamar & Willard "Bill" Peters; grandchildren, Stacie, Kelley & Brad (Charie) Peters, Jessica (Chad) Kipfer & Meredith Long, Thomas (Molly) Long, Bailey (Tony) Tear, Molly (Andy) Long-Diehl, David (Megan) Knueve, Harrison (Leslie), Riley (Ally) & Spencer (Abby) Heller; great grandchildren, Keersten, Maddy, Braxton, Shaun, Libby, Elena, Everett, Max, Clay, Caleb, Camille, Capri, Riley, Hayes, Evy, Connor, Henry, Isabelle, Charlotte, Hudson, Lainey, Millie and 2 on the way!

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry & Bob Peters.

Viewing is Wednesday, July 10th, 4 - 7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp. 

His funeral service is on Thursday, July 11th, 10:30 AM, with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.

He will be laid to rest in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
