Edward L. Stabler

Edward "Lanny" Stabler, 75, of Payne passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Paulding County Hospital, Ohio. 

Lanny was born in Fort Wayne on November 3, 1945, a son of the late Theresa V. (Chomey) and Cletus R. Stabler.

He proudly served in both the Air Force and Navy reserves. Lanny worked at BF Goodrich and Zollner Pistons. He also served as trustee for Harrison Township for many years and was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church.

Lanny with be sadly missed by his wife, Charla (Hutchins), whom he married December 18, 1965; children, Christopher Stabler, Rolland Stabler, Jenifer (Roger) Nicelley, & Dennis (the late Angela) Stabler; siblings, Kenneth (Diana) Stabler, Rita (Winston) Gross, & Paul (Glenna) Stabler; 15 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Proxmire. 

Viewing is Thursday, November 5th from 4-7 at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne.

Service is Friday, November 6th at 10 am with viewing one hour prior. 

Lanny will be laid to rest in Wiltsie Cemetery, with military honors.

Due to state mandate must wear masks at all times, maintain social distancing, and refrain from contact to keep everyone safe while participating in Lanny's viewing and funeral service.

I first met Lanny and Charla in 1985. I remember Lanny for his energy, his warm and friendly manner, and, most of all, that welcoming smile. In a word, he was "unforgettable."

He'll be dearly missed and always remembered by that large and loving family of his. May God bless and keep you all!

I remember Ed working in the tool room at BF Goodrich. He was a good guy. My condolences to Kenny and the rest of the family. Rest in Peace Ed.

So sorry for your loss please accept my sympathies. So many memories with Lanny growing up from childhood days through high school graduation. Lanny was one of my first friends as a child growing up and his family treated me like one of theirs

Charla I was so sorry to hear of Lannys passing. I know the past few years have been a struggle, but he is now at peace and free of pain and suffering.
