Fred Black

Frederick H. Black, 83, of Payne, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at his residence.

Fred was born in Van Wert, Ohio on February 17, 1930, a son of the late Gertrude Mae (Tomlinson) and Don  Black.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and The National Guard.

Fred worked at BF Goodrich  Woodburn, for 33 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Payne American Legion Post 297.

On Oct. 1, 1955 Fred married Jeanette Hoersten.

Fred will be sadly missed by his wife, Jeanette; children, Susan Black & Julie (Ed) Stuart, all of Payne, Jeff (Kris) Black of Fort Wayne & Laura (Steve) Cox of Marysville; siblings Charlotte (Gordon) Morgan of Van Wert & Dean (Diane) Black of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Emily, Jason & Adam Black, Mina Cox & Eli Stuart.

Fred's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 15th, 10 am, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Payne.

Viewing is Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-7:30 pm, with the Rosary recited at 7:30 at Dooley Funeral Home, where viewing is also Wednesday, 9-9:30 am.

He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are to Masses  or Divine Mercy School  or Payne EMS.
