Gerry Oden Shidler, 77, of Paulding, Ohio passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Gerry was born in Vincennes, Indiana on August 10, 1948, a son of the late Maxine (Millhouse) and Oden Shidler, Jr.
He proudly served his county in the United States Army. Gerry went on to work as a truck driver and at Tenneco. Gerry truly enjoyed people. The camaraderie that he felt at the Antwerp VFW and American Legion and the Hicksville Masonic Lodge were only overshadowed by the special love that he had for God and his family. He treasured time with them, especially any activities with his grandchildren. Gerry loved to go to professional baseball games and trips with his family to Korea, Ohio Caverns and Camp Sack-In.
Gerry will be sadly missed by his daughters, Chin Suk Aylward, Angel (Jan) Perry and Tammy (Daniel) Layton; grandchildren, Jennifer Roe, Ryan Swihart, Collin and Callie Perry, Jackson and Alex Layton; great grandchild, Reilly Jordan and siblings, Renee Carr, Vanice (Bill) Brames, Lynette Shidler and David Shidler.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kim, to whom he was married December 2, 1969; step mother, Carol Shidler; son-in-law, Robert Aylward and brothers-in-law, Ray Martenies and James Carr.
Viewing is Thursday, October 2nd, 4 to 7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp.
His funeral service is 10:30 AM, with viewing after 9:30 AM on Friday, October 3rd at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp .
He will be laid to rest with military honors in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.
