Helen Lee Hitzeman, 95 of Auburn, IN died July 28, 2014 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn. She is survived by her children, Harry, Jr. (Donna) of Auburn, Nicki (Jim) Stamm of Port St. Lucie, FL & Steve (Sheila) of Antwerp; 6 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. She was also foster mother to Alvin Lee Shatto. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Hitzeman in 1992 and sisters, Imogene (Derck) Zedaker & Francis Ashton.

Helen was born June 27, 1919 in Worley, KY the daughter of James & Dora (Lee) Perkins. She was a 1937 graduate of Harlan High School. Helen and Harry married July 29, 1939 in Auburn. During their 53 years of marriage they owned farms in Indiana, Michigan & Ohio, eventually settling in the Hicksville/Antwerp area to raise their children.

Known for her inner strength and quiet demeanor Helen showed her children and those around her how to love and live life gracefully through happy and difficult times. Her life ended on earth but another chapter has just begun as she reunited with her husband who has waited 22 years for her arrival.
  
Her funeral service is Friday, 11 am, with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp.

She will be laid to rest at Maumee Cemetery.
