My deepest condolences go out to all of you in Mrs. Detmon's passing. I will continue to appreciate, as I often have, her passion in teaching and leadership in our school and community. Her positive attitude and great sense of humor were very inspirational to students in the classroom, who otherwise might have been challenged in putting pen to paper. In summary, her decades of service and love of life will be greatly missed by all, but never forgotten. God Bless.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Detmon's passing. She was an extraordinary teacher that so many of us were blessed to have. She had such a great sense of humor in class, was patient with students, but also held authority and respect from all. I only hope that I can be the kind of teacher that Mrs. Jean Detmon was! Les, Kendra, Matt, and Liz- you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Les, Matt, Kendra and Lizzie,
I live in Virginia now, so wasn't able to come in person to pay my respects.
After working on the same staff as Jean for over 30 years, my children having her for a teacher, and me being a teacher to at least one of you kids, my heart is very heavy as I think of your loss.
She was a strong presence in life and even now she will be remembered and the world will be a better place because of her influence. I personally have gotten away from reading the last couple of years and I'm going to renew my interest in reading in dedication to Jean's memory. I think she'd like that.
I feel right now she has a red pen out "correcting" all the spelling and grammar mistakes I've made while writing this :)
I loved Jean and will always remember her with such fondness in my heart. God bless you all,

Every time I see good sci-fi I think of you. Every time I hear Buddy Holly I think of you. You taught me to conjugate irregular verbs and to walk with a full coffee cup without spilling it. I learned from you that words matter, as does the manner in which they are used. I will miss you.
