Jean C. Winans
Jean C. Winans, 93, of Payne, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Vancrest of Payne.
Jean was born in Fort Wayne on December 23, 1928, a daughter of the late Lucille (Flaugh) and Oscar Miller.
She was a Registered Nurse at Paulding County Hospital and Wayne Trace Schools. Jean had a servants heart that showed in the care of her patients, students and the family that she treasured. Jean never hesitated to lend a hand on their family farm, delivering meals, driving a truck or tractor as needed. She was a devout member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and Van Wert Chapter #48 Order of the Eastern Star. Although her family will miss her tremendously, they are rejoicing with her and for her. Alzheimer's took her from them years ago, in a sense. But it is the disease that lost the battle. She now has been made whole!
Jean will be sadly missed by her children, Michael (Jeanne) Winans, Susan (Jay) Castleman & Sara Winans; grandchildren, Amanda, (Caleb) Conley, Benjamin (Natalie) Winans, Amy (Jason) Johnson, Stacy (Jacob) Minnich & Allen (Brianne) Reidenbach and great grandchildren, Cale, Caroline & Careen Winans, Boston Conley, Ava & Clara Minnich, Alijah & Alyvia Johnson and Brody & Lily Jo Reidenbach.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen, to whom she was married August 26, 1950 and her brothers Bob, Jack, Junior Oscar & William Miller.
Viewing is Thursday, June 23rd, 4 pm to 7 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne.
Her funeral service is June 24th, 1:30 pm, with viewing 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm at St Paul United Methodist Church, 312 S Main St, Payne.
She will be laid to rest in Lehman Cemetery, Payne.
Memorials are to EverHeart Hospice, 230 W. Main Street, Coldwater, Ohio 45828 or Vancrest Activity Fund, 650 N. Main Street, Payne, Ohio 45880.

Dear Mike, Sue and Sara, Jean went with my mom to "special" her when I was born and also when I had my tonsils out. What a great nurse and an example to those who came after her! When we were all young kids, I think our moms shared their pediatric notes with each other and there were many times they phone rang between the two as they sorted out our medical care!!! Your Dad, Al's birthday was the same day as my Dad, Jim and husband Duane, and there were a few years we would all get together and celebrate that special day, January 16th! Jean and Al would join us for a dinner at Ted and Tom's in Fort Wayne or maybe, Club O! I always enjoyed when your parents would come to the lake or we would discuss the various "clubs" that Jean and Elaine belonged to. What a wonderful woman your mom was. I know you will miss her everyday. Prayers to lift your families up!!!

I enjoyed seeing all of the family pictures, I am a classmate of Jean's from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne IN 1947-1950, Carolyn Fry Houser was in the same class and was from Payne. She and I and a few others are the only surviving members of the class who survive. I am a resident of St Anne Community and am still able to remain on independent status. I will be 93 in August. I met Sara many years ago and we exchanged a few emails. Jean had such a pleasant personality and shared her smiles with everyone. Our School no longer exists, but we who are left remember it fondly. I send sincere sympathy to the family and know you will miss Jean. I will be with you in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days. Sincerely, Kathryn Bowen Bloom

Dear Mike, Sue, Sara and families..... So sorry to receive news of your Mother's death......but know that it was certainly time for her to travel to her Heavenly Home and be reunited with all of her loved ones that have gone on before. As her obituary stated so well...."she has been made whole"!
Want to say that her picture and the background picture with her obituary are so good and appropriate. She was a real classy lady and it was always a pleasure to work for her in the past. Further, she was always a delight to see and greet on Sunday mornings at St. Paul UMC....especially when your Father was living. Such a 'complimentary couple'!!!
We'll all miss her....but we all must thank God for her life and for the awfully fond memories that we have of her.... Let us celebrate her life; not mourn her death. You and all of your family members....have our sympathy.
