Villa June Hale, 90, of Morrow, Ohio passed away on June 14, 2026. June was born in Berwind, West Virginia on June 6, 1936 to the late Steve and Lake (Turner) Edwards. On March 31, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Hubert Hale, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2001.
June is survived by daughters, Terry (Teddy) Payne of Defiance, Kathy Hale of White House, Tennessee; and Lisa (Troy) Schade of Morrow, Ohio. The grandchildren that she helped to raise are Shane Keeterle, Samantha (Brad) Holcomb and Kyrah Schade. Additional grandchildren are Niki (Chad) Smith, Gary (Meagan) Taylor, Craig Taylor, Kevin (Rachel) Payne, Sterling (Emily) Payne, and Allison (Casey) Holcomb. Great-grandchildren: Kendra (Coleman) Taylor, Derek (Taylor) Mason, Jasmin Smith, Jackson Taylor, Liam Taylor, Marisa Bowling, Evan Taylor, Xavier Payne, Jackson Payne, Lainey Payne and Abby Hill. Great-great-grandchildren: Kayden Kepler and Cody Farr.
One of the most important things to June was her family. She was a much-loved aunt to many nieces and nephews; one that she helped to raise, Vickie (Woody) Holcomb. June was also a “bonus” mom to Shelton and Sandi Bradbury; as well as Grandma June to their children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her sister, Theda Miller and her brothers Pastor Bert Edwards, Harold Edwards, Grey Edwards, Pastor James Edwards and great-grandson Issac Reed
June’s faith and trust in Jesus was how she faced everything in life. She made sure that her loved ones knew that she prayed for them every day. She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church in Antwerp, Ohio and was currently attending Christ’s Fellowship at Little Miami in Maineville, Ohio. She spent decades serving the Lord as a song leader, choir member, children’s Sunday School teacher and coordinator, VBS director, children’s choir leader and singing with her brother and friends in a southern gospel group.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18th from 4 to 7pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 202 W. River Street, Antwerp, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 2:30pm on Friday the 19th at the funeral home, with viewing starting at 1:30pm.
She will be laid to rest at Lost Creek Cemetery in Hicksville.
Preferred memorials are to Christ’s Fellowship at Little Miami.
