Kathy (Hunt) Mauldin, 71, of Hicksville, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Kathy was born in Antwerp on April 7, 1951, a daughter of the late Rozelda (Otto) & Luther Hunt.
In her younger years, Kathy enjoyed babysitting for several close family friends, as holding babies was always one of her most favorite things to do. After her own children were born, Kathy served for several years as the Vice President of the PTA at Missouri Avenue Elementary school, and she worked as a teacher’s aide in that same school, always loving to be around kids. She was also a Girl Scout Brownies troop leader. Kathy’s beautifully hand-decorated cakes were famous, and she often had people requesting she make and decorate a cake for their loved-ones special occasions. In subsequent years, she worked as a secretary at Highland Baptist Church in Roswell, NM, and later at Serendipity Day School in Albuquerque, NM. After moving back north to be near her family, she worked as an Intake-Specialist at Park Center in Fort Wayne, IN, and as a Customer Service Representative for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary. Kathy retired early, from that job she loved, to care for her husband, Jerry, as he struggled with the effects of Lewy Body Dementia. She always loved helping people however she could, as well as cooking and baking for them. Kathy loved her siblings, children, and grandchildren immensely, and being “Nana” to her grandchildren was truly the light of her life. She always put her faith in God, and held Jesus close as her savior.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Derek Sauder, Kami Hunter, Charles (Jeannie) Mauldin, Kelly Darnell, & Mark (Karen) Mauldin; siblings, Laurenda (Roland) Gibson, Lesa Sieger, Rebecca (Cory) Michaels, & Melissa (Todd) Girardot; sisters-in-law, Clarehilda, Judy, & Suzy Hunt; grandchildren, Steven, Hannah, & Cooper Mauldin, Ethan Hunter, & Gabriella & Kasen Fisher; & 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, who passed away a few days prior on January 2, 2023; & her siblings, James, Bill, & Marty Hunt, Sandra Sauder, Nancy Burns, & Peggy Johnson.
