Payne

Larry Lynn Overmyer (74), of Payne, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend to many, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, June 21st, 2026.

Larry was born in Paulding, Ohio on February 29, 1952, to the late Katherine Lucille (Laker) and Richard Eli Overmyer. A proud leap-day baby and twin, Larry never missed a chance to share those two favorite fun facts with anyone who would listen - and with his natural gift for conversation, that was just about everyone he ever met.

Larry graduated from Payne High School in 1970 and wore his Payne Panther pride throughout his life. He was a man who loved sports in every form - playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school, competing in slow pitch softball for fun, coaching his kids in baseball and softball, bowling in leagues and tournaments, and taking to the golf course as he got older. He was a fixture on the family team at the Marathon charity basketball game in Payne each year, and never missed a chance to cheer on his kids and grandkids at their sporting events. He also liked to relax in his recliner and watch the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State games on tv.

A devout Catholic, Larry’s faith shaped his welcoming spirit that touched everyone around him. He had a rare and remarkable gift - the ability to make friends wherever he went, to make people laugh, and to talk to anyone about anything. He cherished his family, growing up in a household that loved being together and carrying that tradition out at holidays and on vacations. One of his favorite pastimes was gathering around a card table for a good game of pinochle.

Larry will be greatly missed by his wife, Marti (Koenn); daughter Leslie (Kyle) Zartman; son Tyler (Sasha) Overmyer; grandchildren Briggs and Sylvie Zartman, Remi and Beau Overmyer; siblings the late Patricia Overmyer, Dick (Ann) Overmyer, Pam (Overmyer) Proxmire, and his late twin brother Terry (Terri) Overmyer.
