Louise Sarah Birkhold

Louise Sarah Birkhold 76 of Sandusky, formerly of Grover Hill passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Louise was born in Paulding a daughter of the late Carolus & Enid (Greene) Birkhold.

She was a teacher at Huron City Schools and worked at the Sandusky Best Western/Days Inn for many years, but was just as content to lend a hand at the Huron Summer Playhouse, where she enjoyed the opera, ballet and concerts.

Her willingness to put others first was evident in her memberships in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sandusky College Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Erie County Retired Teachers Assn & the Adopt-A-School mission team.

She will be sadly missed by her brother, Jon of Glenmont and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Her memorial service is 2 pm Saturday, Aug. 13th at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Road, Sandusky.

Her funeral service is 11 AM, with viewing one hour prior on Monday, Aug. 15th at St. James Lutheran Church,  Payne.

Viewing is also Sunday, Aug. 14th, 2 - 5 pm Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio.

She will be laid to rest in Lehman Cemetery.

Memorials are to Trinity Lutheran Church (for Adopt-A-School) or Care & Share.

Louise and I worked (and played) together in Delta Kappa Gamma. Her smile and happy attitude were welcome additions to any committee project. It was a pleasure to call her "friend."

Louise was a kind soul that was my friend when she taught our three children and we knew each other through Zion Lutheran years ago. My favorite memory to share is that I was housebound in the 70s for six months and couldn't attend church. Louise was the ONLY one who sent a card to say she missed me and I never forgot that. Rest in Peace, dear one, and my condolences to your brother and family.

May God the Father grant you comfort, may Jesus assure you of eternal life and may the Holy Spirit give you guidance in the coming days. I recall the many times Louise gave of her time when I was pastor at St John Lutheran Church. She used her God given talent in many ways. Pastor Loren Hoch

Thinking of you Jon during the loss of your Sister. I know Tara has spoke of her and how close the two of your were. I definitely see the resemblance :)
If you need an ear please call me, Julie

Miss Birkhold was my elementary music teacher and also attended Zion Lutheran Church in Huron, Ohio with me. I remember her having us sing our names, the nursery rhyme pageant she put together for us in 1st grade, and the fun we had with musical instruments. She was a kind, loving teacher and a faithful servant. I am so sorry for your loss and pray for your comfort and peace.
