After a well lived life of 95 years, Marie-Anne passed peacefully, surrounded by love, at Kelso Pines in Owen Sound, Ontario. Born in the port city of Brest in northwestern France, Marie-Anne survived the Nazi occupation during WWII. She met her beloved Steve, whom she married in 1949, and in 1951 they immigrated first to the USA before settling in the Hamilton area. Together they built a life in Southern Ontario before retiring to Grey County. Marie-Anne was a force to be reckoned with; a tiny dynamo. Her home was always open to family and friends. She loved her horses, dogs, cats, and gardens. She was also a great cook, enjoyed a good party, a great joke, epitomizing the phrase “hostess with the mostess”
Marie-Anne was predeceased by the love of her life, Steve, in 2001, her parents Francois and Anna Marie Perhirin, her sister Paule Glover and brothers Alexis, Pierre, Joseph, Louis, and Auguste Perhirin. Her many nieces, nephews, family and friends across Canada, the USA and Europe will mourn her passing, along with her faithful fur-baby, Jolie.
She will be laid to rest May 6, 2023 (time TBA) in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp, Ohio.
