Marlene Ann Tempel, 90, of Payne, Ohio passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at Vancrest of Payne.
Marlene was born in Waynedale, Indiana on August 19, 1932, the daughter of Esther (Ehrhardt) and Paul Harting. The family moved back to their home town when Marlene was two. She graduated from Payne High School and on September 2, 1950, married Bob Tempel. In Payne she could be close to her sisters Marjorie and Myrna, Bob's sister Jean, nieces and nephews and both sets of parents. While Bob was in the service, Marlene worked at the Toidey Company and the Casad Depot.
She lived life the fullest when surrounded by family. In her life nothing beat a full house and it was in that house she designed that she and Bob raised their growing family. She took great joy in her grandchildren, making sure everyone had plenty of desserts. She loved playing piano and singing familiar tunes.
Marlene loved getting out with family and friends and could strike up a conversation with anyone. After retirement, winters were spent in Florida and summers at Marble Lake in Michigan. Bob died in 2013.
She was an active member of the community belonging to; The Town and Country Club, The American Legion Auxiliary and St. John's Catholic Church but most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mom lives on in all of her children; Tom (Kim Waldschmidt) Tempel, Judy (Dwight) Redmon, Bobbi (Todd) Champany, Jeff (Sheila) Tempel, Dan (Deb) Tempel , Amy (Brad) Yenser, her sister, Myrna Lamb and a legacy of 13 grandchildren & 26 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Foust and Great Grandson Chase Holt.
Visitation is Wednesday, November 9th, 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, with the rosary recited at 6:30 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 5716 SR 500, Payne, where viewing will also be Thursday, November 10th, 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
Her funeral mass will be Thursday, November 10th at 10 am at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 203 W. Townline Street, Payne.
She will be laid to rest in Lehman Cemetery.
