Michael Cox

Michael G. Cox, 74, of Payne, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in Fort Wayne on May 19, 1948, a son of the late Peggy Darlene (Zartman) and Murlin Cox.

Michael graduated from Payne H.S. in 1966 where he was a 3-sport athlete. He went on to serve his country as a forward observer in the Marine Corp and subsequently in the Vietnam war during the TET offensive years 1967-1968. Michael returned to the states where he began working in the trades as a commercial insulator. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to begin and grow a very successful, multi-state commercial insulation business known as NedraCorp named for his loving wife Nedra.

He will be sadly missed and is survived by his wife, Nedra (Rondot) Cox; brother, Jack (wife Renee) Cox; his children, son David (Joe Garmyn), daughter Jessica (Kirk Ray); grandchildren, Sydney Sheedy, Owen Sheedy, and Samantha Sheedy, and 4 step grandchildren.

To those who knew Michael, he was one of the most generous, giving, and kind-hearted people you would ever meet. He loved spending time with his family on the water and relaxing at the cabin up North. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and never missed a sporting event. He spent his life never looking back, always looking ahead, and lived the marine motto to “improvise, adapt, overcome…”

Visitation is Friday, December 16, 2022, from 4-7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home 5761 SR 500, Payne, Ohio 45880.

Service is Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Dooley Funeral Home with viewing one hour prior.

He will be laid to rest with military honors in Wiltsie Cemetery.
