I worked with Nick for many years in the core room at the foundry. He was one of the best workers and a great repairman on our machines.
I knew Nick did plaster work and even stopped to see the work he was doing on a house once. I met Nick several times at various places and always enjoyed talking to him and catching up with him. I was always amazed with how long he continued plastering. Every time I have any plaster repairs around the house, I think of Nick and wonder how he's doing. Within the last few years, I've lost both my parents do I know his loss will be hard to recover from. But as others have said, I'm sure Nick has gained his heavenly reward.
Peace to his entire family.

To the entire Nick Mendez family......In addition to my previous 'tribute post', that said much about what I thought of your Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother, I completely forgot to extend my sincere sympathy to all of you. We all realized that Nick was not well these last few years but like me, you were probably hoping that he would defy all odds and return to his energetic and enthusiastic self but it just didn't happen. The last couple of times we spoke, he just wasn't the Nick of years prior. He's now at rest and while very sad, I'm also very happy for him as I have no doubt that he is with our Heavenly Father.

May God comfort all of you and may He give you the strength to move through this difficult time. I have no doubt that he, like the Lord, will be closer to us in spirit than we could ever imagine.
