Ray Martenies

Raymond L. Martenies, Jr. 54, of Antwerp passed away at 4 am, Tuesday, October 27th, at his residence.

Ray was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on June 17, 1955, a son of Lois (Clark) Martenies, of Antwerp and the late Raymond Martenies, Sr.

Ray was a 1973 graduate of Hicksville High School & a member of the Hicksville Eagles.

On May 8, 1976 Ray married Vanice Shidler, who survives. He will be sadly missed by his wife & mother; daughter, Nicole (Bill) Phares of Antwerp; son, Jarod of Bloomington, IN; sisters, Robin (Craig) Pessefall of Sherwood & Rosalind Hawn of Antwerp; brothers, Steve (Diane) of Fayette, Ricky (Sindie) of Hicksville; Rodney (Joy) of Montpelier & Royce (Candius) of Edon; grandchildren Kaden & Kati Phares.

Funeral services are at First Baptist Church of Antwerp at 11 am on Saturday, October 31st, with Rev. Jim Edwards officiating.

Viewing is Friday, 2-8 pm, at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp and Saturday, one hour prior to services, at the church.

Memorials are to Vanice Martenies.

Vanice and Family: I don't know what to say, except I'm sorry. Ray was driving by and stopped a few weeks ago. He asked how I was doing and we caught up on families a little bit. Please except our condolences on your loss. It was a grave surprise to us as well I'm sure it was to you and your's. Ray was a coach to both my boys and they were saddened by the news as well. You will be in our prayers.

We were so shocked to hear about your loss. Vanice, if you need anything - please don't hesitate to ask. We are right down the street and would do anything for you, Nicky or Jarod that we can. Your entire family is in our prayers during this difficult time. I know God will give you the strength to get through this. He never gives us more than we can bear.
