Robert D. Collis, 99, of Payne, passed away peacefully with his family Monday, September 5, 2016.
Bob was born in Chloride, Arizona on January 25, 1917, a son of the late Emile Pierre Lambert and Daisie Lambert Collis. As a young child, he moved to Fort Wayne, IN.
On April 1, 1944 he married Fordyce Copenhaver who passed away on September 3, 2009.
He served on the Payne Chamber of Commerce, Payne Town Council and Payne School Board. He was a successful businessman having owned/founded Collis Market (1945 – 1966), co-owned/founded Broughton Cannery (1966 – retirement) and owned real-estate. He was recognized as an honoree in 2015 by the town of Payne.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Don Collis of Broughton, Susan Collis Zartman, Fort Wayne, Jim (Jane) Collis of Payne. 7 grandchildren, Donna (Rick) Greear of Broughton, Diana (Mike) Kuzemchak of Pennsylvania, Regina Zartman of Fort Wayne, David (Iris) Collis of Virginia, Chris (Billie) Collis of Payne, Bob (Laura) Collis of Fort Wayne, Lyn Collis of Payne. 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Collis Fritzal, Sister Helen Collis, daughter Carol Ann Collis, great-granddaughter, Iris Kuzemchak.
Viewing is Wednesday, Sept. 7th, 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne.
His funeral service is Thursday, Sept. 8th, 11 am with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne.
He will be laid to rest at the Lehman Cemetery.
Memorials are to Paulding County Visiting Nurses or donor’s choice.
