Ronald E. Phillips

Ronald E. Phillips, affectionately known by family and friends as "Grizz", 72, of Woodburn, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 4, 2015.

Ron was born in Fort Wayne on April 22, 1943, a son of the late Mildred (Phillips) and Wilson  Phillips.

Ron was member of the Woodburn Missionary Church.  His 50 year plus years in the Harlan Lions Club showed his care & commitment to his community. He loved to read and watch NASCAR but Ron  looked forward to his family's annual deer hunting trips to Wyoming the most. Ron farmed for many years, hauled milk for 18 years and enjoyed working for Bradtmueller Trucking.

On Dec. 28, 1963 Ron married Hedy Stopher, who survives.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Hedy; children, Shelley (Galen) Chapman of Leo, Craig (Marcy) of Zionsville & Erick (Barbara) of St Joe; sister, Dorothy of Ontonagon, MI; grandchildren, Faith (Jeff) Lewis, Courtney & Katelyn Chapman and Cale, Dane, Marlee, Brynn & Trinity Phillips; great grandchildren, Arianna, Jeffrey & Evelyn.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie Schenk & Donald

His funeral service is at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Rd, Woodburn, IN at 11 am on Wednesday, December 9th, with viewing one hour prior.
 
Viewing is also Tuesday, 1-4 & 6-8 pm at Woodburn Missionary Church.  

He will be laid to rest at Scipio Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Woodburn Missionary Church or Harlan Lions Club are strongly suggested by his family.
