Rose “Rosie’ Johnson, 91, of Harlan passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Rosie was born September 18, 1930, and grew up and went to school in Scipio Township.
On September 29th, 1951 Rosie married her Harlan high school sweetheart – Rolland “Rollie” Johnson, settled in Harlan and raised their two children, Elaine & Dave. Rosie was a joy filled grandmother and her constant laughter and ever-ready smile is a memory her grandchildren cherish. Rosie loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. She cherished her friends she made in the Old Fort Model A club and the Goldwing Motorcycle group. Rollie and Rosie just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Rosie was the epitome of energy and hard work. Rosie worked a number of jobs in her lifetime and at home she was always on the go. Rollie often said that if he got up in the middle of the night for a drink of water she would have the bed made before he got back. Even this summer she was cutting her rose bushes and picking up sticks and walnuts in the yard. Her work ethic, constant laughter and generosity are a model for us all.
She is survived by her husband, Rollie Johnson and her daughter and son, Elaine (Mike) Pesesky and Dave (KC “Kathy” Connors) Johnson and her six grandchildren Chelsea (Brian) Borth, Avery Johnson (Alex Sosinski), Cassidy Pesesky, Kallan Johnson, Lars Johnson and Ian Johnson. She is further survived by her sister Louise Shaefer.
Visitation with Rosie’s family is Wednesday, January 19th, 12:30 to 2:00 pm, with Services beginning at 2:00 pm at Harlan Church of Christ, 17108 IN-37, Harlan. The family requests masks be worn.
Memorials are to Harlan Church of Christ or Harlan Lions Club.
